Prof. Georgi Tomov graduated in 2004 from the Faculty of Stomatology, Medical University of Plovdiv. He has two specialities – endodontics (2008) and periodontology (2019). In 2009, after defence of a doctoral thesis, he acquired PhD degree. In 2012 Georgi Tomov become an Assoc.Prof. and in 2022 – a Professor at the Department of Periodontology and oral mucosal diseases, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Plovdiv. In 2020 he is promoted to Chair of the same department.

The scientific interests and clinical practice of Prof. G. Tomov are focused on endodontics, oral pathology, periodontology and laser applications in dentistry. Prof. Tomov is an author of over 37 full-text publications in specialized dental journals, cited frequently in national and international scientific editions. He is a scientific supervisor of 8 successfully defended PhD students, leading researcher of four scientific projects, author of two monographs and a co-author in three textbooks. Prof. Tomov has been a guest-lecturer in many educational institutions abroad: Rey Juan Carlos (Spain), Hadassah (Israel), Showa (Japan), Eastman Dental Institute (UK) and many others. In 2022 he is appointed as a Vice Dean of Science and Research Activities at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Plovdiv. He is also a Director of the Dental Laser Center established by him in 2012. Prof. Tomov is a member of the Executive Board of ISLD (International Society for Laser Dentistry) and member of the editorial boards of Lasers in Dental Science (Germany) and Health Technology (Taiwan).
